Greater Hull area what is it?

To start there is no greater Hull area offically but in reality there is! And should be one offically as many of the below would be in a greater city area in place like Manchester. How would you define a greater city area?
( Greater Hull would be Hessle, Analaby ,Cottingham,Willerby,Hedon,Bilton and a few others all in East riding) Any town or village within 5 miles or so of Hull not listed as well
The area that benifits from directly the main larger city. Lets start with Hessle if not for Hull would it still have a train station ? I think not Dr B would of axed the line if it had not been the main Hull track. Or again were do the majority of Hessle work? HULL!
Hull is the largest city no only city in East riding and the largest place by a long shot.
When you are driving on the A63 into Hull where does Hessle end Hull start? It seems almost seemless the same go on the maps for several villages around.
These place benifit from Hull but Hull does not Benifit from them. And that how I would define a greater city area where close smaller town and village need the larger city to surive. And in Hull's case were on a map look like a ward/suburb of Hull. A further example east Riding council use Hull recycling centre and tips for the Hull village areas. I could keep going the examples and reason are long.
As it stands a Offical Greater Hull does and will not exist but should HULL has very tight and narrow boundrys compared to many places creating Greater Hull could benifit Hull and the surronding Towns and villages in many ways
A larger Local authority with more Citzens would have more clout than Hull City and east riding combined at the moment I think. After all East Riding Council has a wide area to cover and consider a Greater Hull authority could better cover it larger area than Hull council have now an area with combined intrest anyway.
