Misconceptions about Hull General misconceptions The smell ! The stink !(Part3)

The national media loves to pick on Hull and often they are going on misconceptions half truth or just plain out dated info like in the case of this particullar one Hull Smell.

Hull smells of fish!
This was once true when Hull was home to one of the largest fishing industry in the UK until it was damaged badly by the cod wars. Now there are only a few Fishing boats and factory's left in Hull. But when we did smell of fish on the air it was the smell of a hard working down to earth and honest city.
Hull does not smell of death either!
I personally liked the smell of the Coca and can't see how people think it smell of death but they did. Again sadly the Adm Cocca plant has gone and been knocked down.
On rear occasion you can still smell the drains in the city centre but this is now quite rare. And If the wind is in the wrong direction from the water works in East riding.

But in the City centre the city has no real smell.

Plus every city possible in the world has a smell in certain areas some are nice some are horrible but in a strange way it adds to the character of a place. And Hull is a port and industrial city and once a major fishing port and that breeds a hard working type of people and place.
