Hull the game changer of English History

Hull the city that changed English history time and time again

Now I admit this may sound like a very bold claim but bear with me will I back it up.

For a start two of England's most historical significant building are in Hull old town the Beverley Gate and The old White Hart. Both where critical in sparking of the English civil war that lead to the only time in English history where:

We Executed a reigning monarch Charles 1st
And the only time in English history we where a parliamentary state (Not Democracy Cromwell turned into the only English Dictator)(In fact it and he became so hated that we re installed the killed monarchs son Charles 2nd on the throne)

But How did we spark all this off it was simple Charles the 1st visited Hull to see his Royal garrison and armoury that was based in Hull. The city leader who where parliamentarians meet in the plotting room in the Old White Hart and decided to shut the king out at Beverly gate.

Or as a side note our role in ending slavery

Things I would like to see in Hull part 4 I think

With all this talk about the 25 million revamp of the city centre gaining more traction with the planing people supporting it. It is great but how about going a bit further and creating a statue garden in Hull with councillor what's his name saying dump Amy Johnson Statue in Prince's dock it got me think about this idea (Which is very disgraceful idea and an insult to Amy Johnson and the history of our proud city)

Hull has quite a few statues lets create a copy of every statue in this fine city and create a avenue of statue at the centre of a new city centre park.
And we should commission a few new statues of famous Hull residents including Clive Sullivan. Plus relocate the water feature at Spring bank corner to this new park. Plus scatter a few of the famous Larkin toads among the plants and tree that should be added to the Statue park.
But Where ?
There are quite a few empty pieces of land in the city centre that could be strong candidates for this. The empty site of the old La Night club.

Extra Extra need some thing to do in Hull UK? Here is and idea

It is Wednesday the 16th of July an the weather looking nice for today here in Hull. Need some thing to do? great here is a suggestion why not go bargain hunting at Hull Walton street market.

That is where we will be today busy trading away with our van full of all sorts and I mean all sorts. The variety in the back is quite amazing you need to see it to believe it. So why not join us your in for a friendly warm welcome and plenty of great prices.

Hull the gem in Yorkshire crown or the ugly sister?

Hull has been described by some as Yorkshire jewel in it's crown but it often seems like we are more like Yorkshire's ugly sister. I am of the the latter school I think we are the Jewel in the crown.

But the fact is Hull is often over looked by the rest of Yorkshire and the world let just take the Tour De France that totally stuck to the areas around Leeds and York + Sheffield and totally forgot Hull and East Yorkshire.
OK in many ways our flatness of Hull and East Yorkshire would make for a boring cycle race compared to the route they used but the Humber Bridge would have made and interesting and spectacular section.

So there are reason We where over looked but this is only one example there are many more that I am not going to go into.

Hull the jewel in the crown of Yorkshire

As I said I believe Hull is the Jewel in the crown yes we are flat but that just means it easier to build in Hull it is also easier to walk and cycle around this city. And Hull has one of the largest cycle networks in England. And if you choice to cycle from Hull city centre in about 20-25 minutes you would be in the country side and with two direct cycle route to the coast in the east it easy to get to the coast. (of course it can also be said about travelling in car) inn other words you can get to either the coast or the country side including the Yorkshire Wolds in only a few minutes.

Every city has parks or plazas in the city centre but in the North Hull is the only one to have a city centre green space park. We have the only bridge in the UK that can be ridden will it moves to allow ships to pass.

These are only a small number of reason Hull is Yorkshire jewel in it's crown
