The M62 Corridor (logistics)

Been a Hull based transport provider means we travel along the M62 corridor quite often.
Why does that matter ?
For the following:

  1. The M62 intercepts all the major North/South roads in the UK( A1 M6 M1 ) (Connected)
  2. Along it you have Leeds ( less than 1 hour from our base )
  3. The UK's 3rd city Manchester (about 2 hours from our base )
  4. At it's end the Port of Liverpool
  5. Also at it's end ferries to Ireland (apx  2 and half hours from base )
  6. The North west is within easy reach for us
As you can see been along the M62 corridor ( At the end with the Port of Hull and soon green port Hull ) Means we are in easy reach of the entire UK and Ireland and Even via the Port of Hull mainland Europe

Talking of getting along the M62 corridor we offer nationwide coverage and get away from the M62 corridor as well

The Phantom Cannons of Hull: A strange event occurred on October 12, 1658, when people reported hearing three cannons being fired one after another over Hull and a peal of muskets. The muskets continued for around seven minutes, with drums beating as if two armies were at battle. Shortly after, a thick mist or smoke was reported around about the city, although there was no sight of the warring sides.

Witchcraft in Hull: In 1604, Hull was hit by the plague which led to the town gates being closed to stop people getting in and out. During this year accusations of witchcraft were placed on several citizens, with five people put to death by hanging for allegedly practising the dark arts. (via +Hull Daily Mail  )

Punctuality

You can not plan for a traffic jams but what you can do is expect delays on route and build extra time in to keep yourself on schedule and that what we do. We take that into account into our route planning.
For Example today's route 28/05/15 to Leyland from Hull ( see our upcoming routes )
We set off at 05:30 for a 9 am collection  why ?
Simple there is always traffic around the m60 so we added that extra time in to aviod that/ allow extra time to get thru
And to avoid major traffic around Leeds

What we could not have planned for was a crash on the M61 but had we set of 5 min later we would have been caught in the traffic we passed it just after it happen so avoid the traffic jam that went from J6 To J1 southbound

Some Quotes for you

Vans have come on a long way from the early days

1960's Mark 1 Ford Transit
2014
(our Current van ) / Current generation
Our First van as a company was a +Ford Motor Company  Transit (not a Mark 1 lol ) this was when we where just a on-line and market trader. We had a few vans in between then and now

See where it is going to be

500 KG = 1102 LBS
oR 78 3/4 Stones

That what our tail lift can lift
500 kg is also 1/2 a Ton
1 ton = 1000kg
the van can carry apx 1200 kg so that the tail lift full twice and some more for good measure

A good point to remember is all thought a van can only carry up to about 1.5 tons (our Luton is about 1.2 tonnes capacity ) they can go place that lorries can not
We have numerous routes on our Luton at Clark trading Group that as a result of this be of us to Regular haulier. Light haulage and haulage work hand in hand

What is 600 cubic feet ?

# So what is 600 cubic feet ?
The van load capacity  the new Luton is apx 700 and a bit capacity the sprinter is apx 550 m3
Put in other ways it is 16990 litres of water that is a lot of water (not that we would put that much water in there it would weigh nearly 17 tonnes )
So we can fit quite a bit in the back and it is just over 4m long in the back as well

Just added up this weeks mileage as it stands is 1728 with space on numerous routes still

+Trading for Good  +Dove House Hospice  +Hull Daily Mail

Some times the jobs we do as a haulier (light) are just great like yesterday we collected some bikes in Bridlington. The rider had come all the way from Morecambe in support of their local hospice so of course we made a donation to them
Which is great of them to ride all them miles

And as we also support our local hospice Dove House great to see what lengths people go to help their local hospices. And in a small way help them achieve this
