Should they fill Beverley gate in ? Hull

The Beverley gate in Hull is:

• One of the few medieval brick gates 
• The oldest example of medieval brick gates 
• A key point in the English civil war 

The current situation at the gate is no good for anyone as the site is not correctly utilized, If this was York the site would be a major tourist draw yet the council has let the site go down hill (funding or something not having a go at +Hull City Council just saying ) 

A better solution needs to be found Hull can not lose a key historical location of national importance ( +Visit Hull & East Yorkshire ) after all it was where The governor of Hull shut out the King Charles the 1st preventing him access to the large arsenal ( royal ) largest outside London I think. Leading to both the siege of Hull and the English civil war.  More of this needs making of the site and more in general Hull has such a rich history there is more to Hull the it Maritime history and Wilberforce as big a part of Hull history they are.

While I have always favoured the Glass idea I can see why the +Hull City Council think this want work fair enough but just filling the gate in is the correct answer. It like york saying it is going to knock the walls down, Hull has lost over the years it fort/Garrison ( @ Sammy point where +The Deep  stands now ) and all the walls the gate is all that remains of them. 

So What to do ?

A few options do exist as I see them ( plus other people  E.g  +Hull Daily Mail comments )

• Take each brick up and fill the hole in and rebuild the remains at street level 
• or in a Museum/ Which museum in Hull would be best 
• Leave it as it is ( not ideal )
• Glass roof  just don't let people walk on it 

  Just filling the Gate in is not a good Answer it will hide and destroy history

Things I would like to see in Hull part 4 I think

With all this talk about the 25 million revamp of the city centre gaining more traction with the planing people supporting it. It is great but how about going a bit further and creating a statue garden in Hull with councillor what's his name saying dump Amy Johnson Statue in Prince's dock it got me think about this idea (Which is very disgraceful idea and an insult to Amy Johnson and the history of our proud city)

Hull has quite a few statues lets create a copy of every statue in this fine city and create a avenue of statue at the centre of a new city centre park.
And we should commission a few new statues of famous Hull residents including Clive Sullivan. Plus relocate the water feature at Spring bank corner to this new park. Plus scatter a few of the famous Larkin toads among the plants and tree that should be added to the Statue park.
But Where ?
There are quite a few empty pieces of land in the city centre that could be strong candidates for this.  The empty site of the old La Night club.

Hull has one thing in abundance and that water and bridges. With the Humber and the river Hull and all the drainage channels. 

All these bridges are in Hull (Expect the Humber Bridge on the outskirts of Hull)

Things to love about Hull/ Things to do in Hull

I love Hull I have said it many times but what is there to do love if your a tourist?

• The Deep
• Our own Land train
• Cycle taxi 
• Fish trail 
• Many free museums 
• 2 museum ships both free 
• Hull Truck theatre 
• The old town 
• The Humber 
• Fort Paull 
• Grade 2 listed parks like East park 
• See where HMS Bounty was built 
• Or William Wilberforce was born 
• Visit the pub where they decide to shut a king out of Hull King Charles the first and spark the English civil war 
• Plus the remains of Beverly gate where he was shut out leading to as above and the siege of Hull 
• Visit England's largest parish church 
• Or the School where many of Hull historical residents went to school like Andrew Marvell (Poet) now the Hands on museum (it is free)
• Newland avenue area and shops/Cafes like Original Shakes and other independent shops and cafes 

Please suggest more there is loads to see and do in Hull and the surrounding areas
