31ST October aka Halloween
On route home after a night's drinking, Jack encounters the Devil and tricks him into climbing a tree. A quick-thinking Jack etches the sign of the cross into the bark, thus trapping the Devil. Jack strikes a bargain that Satan can never claim his soul. After a life of sin, drink, and mendacity, Jack is refused entry to heaven when he dies. Keeping his promise, the Devil refuses to let Jack into hell and throws a live coal straight from the fires of hell at him. It was a cold night, so Jack places the coal in a hollowed out turnip to stop it from going out, since which time Jack and his lantern have been roaming looking for a place to rest.
Another version[citation needed] of the story says that Jack was getting chased by some villagers from whom he had stolen, when he met Satan, who claimed it was time for him to die. However, the thief stalled his death by tempting Satan with a chance to bedevil the church-going villagers chasing him. Jack told Satan to turn into a coin with which he would pay for the stolen goods (Satan could take on any shape he wanted); later, when the coin (Satan) disappeared, the Christian villagers would fight over who had stolen it. The Devil agreed to this plan. He turned himself into a silver coin and jumped into Jack's wallet, only to find himself next to a cross Jack had also picked up in the village. Jack had closed the wallet tight, and the cross stripped the Devil of his powers; and so he was trapped.
Halloween or Hallowe'en (/ˌhæləˈwiːn, -oʊˈiːn, ˌhɑːl-/; a contraction of "All Hallows' Evening"),[6] also known as Allhalloween,[7] All Hallows' Eve,[8] or All Saints' Eve,[9] is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of theWestern Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It initiates the triduum of Allhallowtide,[10] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.[11] Within Allhallowtide, the traditional focus of All Hallows' Eve revolves around the theme of using "humor and ridicule to confront the power of death."[12]
According to many scholars, All Hallows' Eve is a Christianized feast initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals,[13][14] with possiblepagan roots, particularly the Gaelic Samhain.[8][15][16] Other scholars maintain that it originated independently of Samhain and has solely Christian roots.[17][18]
Delivery division Q and A
UPDATED 23/08/15
Q What is your most unusual delivery to date ?
A Rabbits and their hutch 6 baby bunnies in fact (or at least I think that it is can't think of any other deliveries that fit the bill)
New answer
A motorbike from Gloucestershire also is not something we do every day so fits the bill Not so true now we have transported motor bikes quite often
Q so what else do you deliver?
A if it will fit in the van most things (no adr we have no licensed drivers) for example a common thing we deliver is sofas, household
Q What about pallets ?
A yes as long as there is a forklift at both ends Updated as long as the pallets weigh under 500kg we have a tail lift
Q I have a forklift but no spare driver problem?
A No Richard the drivers mate (plus my brother) is licensed on both counterbalance up to 5000 kg and reach trucks so on pallets if need he can load your goods on to the van. Plus pedestrian operated electrical pallet truck. He Richard that is even has his first aid at work as does Lynne (mum)
Q so do you always run a two man team?
A yes on all deliveries and house/business removal jobs
(we load and unload ourselves so no back breaking work for the customer we do all the heavy and not so heavy lifting) Updated If the job only requires a driver than the second man/porter will stay at the yard unless on a previous job where required.
A He has been Banks man trained as well. Manual handling and a few others
Q Is it just the public you offer your service or business as well
A We will deliver for business or the general public it make little difference to us
Q You offer national coverage what is your longest trip to date ?
A A collection just south of Nottingham
As of 1st November we been further south now as far as Gloucestershire
So distance is no object
Once again I have to update this answer as we keep going further afield now it is near London Camberley. In fact I have tallied up the place we been the list is getting bigger by the week
March 2015 has so far been a bumper month and the van is/has travelled further this month than ever before as a result two upcoming jobs are now furthest South Bodmin Cornwall and that trip has a round total of 776 miles due to loads along route #backloads and Cory in Scotland near Inverness will be our furthest trip North and First time in Scotland and longest at 446 miles there
New Answer
We have just done (doing at time of update ) a European run
( The Italian job and French connection )
And it drops in at 2337 miles in total
Q What is the furthest North you have been ? As all these seem to be going south.
A Newcastle on a house removal job See above it will be massively beat in April
23/08
Inverness
A that all depends on what you define as interesting it has crossed the Humber bridge going to Grimsby but nothing special really
Sort of it has been to 3 different shopping centre on deliveries 2 in Hull and Meadowhall
or the European trips
Or two Raf base
Q What experience has your delivery driver got?
A Paul (Dad) is a qualified HGV driver (big lorries) who has driven class 1 all across the UK and even Europe and carried a wide range of products including glass and even livestock at one time a bullock in fact broke his arm many years ago when he was doing livestock haulage. So he has a good geographic knowledge etc. In fact at one point he used to do ship chandlering deliveries for the armed forces.
Q How large is your van
A the simple answer is very big it is a jumbo merc 64 plate euro 6 sprinter in technical jargon, put simply it is the largest type of panel van you can get with a big load bay at 4.5 metres 13.5 feet in old money or is it 14.5 feet sorry I work in metric so may have my conversion wrong..
UPDATED IGNORE ABOVE NOT DELETED FOR REFERENCE
We now opperate a 14 plate merc luton still a euro 6
Load capcaity is up to 600 cubic feet increased by 100 plus cubic feet.
And we have a tail lift that can lift 500 kg at a go
Load weight capacity is about 1200kg due to lightweight body up by 200kg apx
Updated
Now a Citroen Relay also a Luton
updated
A 15 Plate boxer Luton
We keep our fleet current and as new as possible
Q I take it it is green from your last answer
A Yes it is nearly new so has the latest engine on board Paul drive it as efficiently as possible avoiding un need mileage. So it is as green as possible for a van.
#Green Logistics policy
We also have a MPG target for our Luton of 29 mpg
And where every possible the van does 60 mph on the motorways this is more fuel efficient and further reduce co2 output
Q What payment methods do you offer
A Cash on delivery is our main method but we also can offer via paypal as well. We may consider part exchange on household items We also accept instant bank transfer
Q It is a family affair I see
A yes myself my mum dad and brother are all involved in the company in some capacity
Q a bit of a legal question here are you fully insured
A Yes fully insured with Goods in transit (Haulage version not courier ) upto £10000 and £1 million public liability
Q What is your most come routes ?
A We go all over the place and don't route run persay but we get to London very often
Q A London related question are your LEZ compliant
A Yes our van/s are Euro 6 ( Current standards for London are Euro 4 I think )
Q So how do I book yourselves
A You can book via the emails
(Any questions just email them to)

The day I nearly died. My Story
Without a shadow of a doubt the worst day in my life was 1st November 2013, I can not think of a much more harrowing and terrifying experience than what I woke up to that morning. A Fire! but to make matters worse my fridge freezer was fully ablaze and kicking out very toxic smoke, 3 lung full would have been fatal to put that in perspective 5-6 is what it normally takes. I came within minutes of death. And to be able to say that at an exact date and time in my life I know I was not far from death is/was a terrifying experience, but strangely also liberating after all I survived and am here to tell the tale. And I know that I acted selflessly and put the safety of other first that day before my own, I faced my challenge and emerged stronger for it in the long run. Thinking back on it I don't recall any fear at the time all that came after or any emotion for that matter.
I went into auto pilot.
It did send me into a darker mindset and shake me up for a while there is no denying that, I second guess every one of my actions. Kept reliving it and various version of it both real and imaginary in my head when I tired to sleep for the first few days. And it snuck up and got me week later when I thought I had got through all of it.

So what are the reason behind the Goole to Hull #charitychallengewalk ?
Well lets start with a little background
(We all know who and what Dove house hospice are, and there are hundreds of reason people choice to support them each as unique as it is the same)
It is personal is the short version, cancer has claimed the lives of family members who the hospice cared for in their last months it really is that simple a personal connection to the hospice and it work.
I am going to support Dove house to my last breath or all terminal illness are beaten which ever comes first.
I am proud to make that statement and stand by it with all my might both personally and PROFESSIONALLY. I/we (The company) have been supporting Dove house now activley for over 1 year since late September 2013 blogging, collection tubs etc. And this is a natural STEP UP.

It is grim up north! NO Wait it is not !
It is grim up north
One question is the North -South Divide real ?
Well put simply yes we all know it does. But looking at it on paper at evidence is it real?
Simple put while people think it is real it will be real to some extent no matter what, but is there more to this than simply the way people think?
Yes
For one thing the south get more per capicta head spent on it on things like infrastructure, a good example is the Thames link, the HS2 proposal all about making getting to London faster.
Take Hull a key UK port city the motorway stops 20 miles out side the city the government (past and present) has taken years just to approve sorting Castle street out and it is not started yet 2017 it is expected to start. And no it does not matter there are more people in the south that is why I am using capicta head to measure like for like.
The North is home to many things:
- Ports/docks (Hull/Immingham/Liverpool/tees port)
- Numerous industrial bases
The south by en large is the UK financial area
By neglecting the North and allowing the North South divide to exisit you negalite the Engine room of the UK.
The problem is in recessions industry suffers and the north is the industrial heart land, but the financial sector caused the last and every other recession thought history. The gap grows bigger, the north suffers for the south.
And the Government is focused on the south.
It is simple a strong UK needs a strong North and a strong South the North South divide hurts every one.
But it not all bad
Property price
Cost of living
Are all lower
