Hull a Hidden Gem?

Hull a Hidden Gem?

Is Hull still a hidden gem awaiting discovery? As a city? A location to do Business?

Yes and No
Is Hull a good place for business?
Yes
Since winning the City of culture title for #Hull2017 we have received a lot of positive press and had some great news and even more government funds and attention but are we fully out of the shadows? No well not totally.
Channel 5 for one still like to pick on and portray us in as negative light as possible that why I would say Hull is still a hidden gem not every one knows about our good aspects or choices still to ignore them. Or even use outdated facts and figures/distorted (Here is one case ad reason to expand Hull's boundary's)

Hull has problems and always will but answer me one question name one city you cant say that about?

Hull is great here are a few reason why both for people and business
I suggest forgetting the negatives and looking at the positive you might be surprised by how many there are
  • The Deep
  • Port of Hull (with the other Humber ports one of the biggest and busiest port in Europe and the UK busiest)
  • Home and founding location of many national major business
  • University of Hull. Correct me if I am wrong one of the Uk best university I believe (LCD was invented here)
  • The Humber Bridge
  • A compact city that is flat and easy to travel about on foot, bike, car, Public transport
  • Within 4 and half hours by car from 80% of the UK population a fact that is not true about London. (Yes we do need to improve our Rail network but that is a work in progress with funding been announced yesterday) (But we have our own train company which is one of the best preforming based on customer satisfaction)
  • We are within 2 Hours of several major Airports including Manchester
  • With the port of Hull we have a direct passenger and freight ferry connection to Europe including Europort the largest port complex in Europe and 4 th in the world.
  • The port has a freight rail line with excess capacity after it upgrade.
  • Cheap and affordable property both residential and commercial
Despite all the negative press over the years if Hull was such a bad place why are we HQ locations for several multinational including Smith and Nephews. Or Why has Seimens announced it will be building it biggest turbine factory in Europe here in Hull.
As you can see I think Hull has a strong case to say it is a hidden Gem of business opportunity waiting to be taped
