Fireworks frighten animals 

Fireworks are enjoyed year-round by people but can be a source of fear 

for many animals. 

It doesn't have to be that way though, so don’t ignore the problem. Seek 

advice from your vet who will if necessary; be able to refer you to a
professional clinical animal behaviourist. You can also follow our top tips
to make firework celebrations less frightening for your pet.

Keeping cats and dogs secure
• Make sure your dog or cat always has somewhere to hide if he or
she wants to and has access to this place at all times. For example
this could be under some furniture or in a cupboard.
• During firework seasons, walk dogs during daylight hours and keep
cats and dogs indoors when fireworks are likely to be set off.
• At nightfall close windows and curtains and put on music to mask
and muffle the sound of fireworks.
• If your pet shows any signs of fear try to ignore their behaviour.
Leave them alone unless they are likely to harm themselves.
• Never punish or fuss over your pet when it's scared as this will only
make things worse in the long run.
• Make sure your cat or dog is always kept in a safe and secure
environment and can’t escape if there’s a sudden noise. Have your
pet microchipped in case they do escape.
Just for dogs – before the firework season starts
Planning ahead can help your dog cope with the firework season.
Talk to your vet about pheromone diffusers. These disperse calming
chemicals into the room and may be a good option for your dog, in some
cases your vet may even prescribe medication. If either of these options
is used they should be used in conjunction with behavioural therapy. We
would recommend asking your vet to refer you to a clinical animal
behaviourist or using the 'Sounds Scary' therapy pack
(www.soundtherapy4pets.co.uk). 

Remember remember the 5th of November

Lets all enjoy a happy and safe bonfire night tomorrow.

But what are we remembering on the 5th of November?

The plot by Guy Fawkes and the rest plot to blow the king(James the first) and parliament up in. The year 1604. He was Executed on the 31st January 1605 (He jumped from the gallows and broke his neck to avoid the grisly death that awaited a traitor of been hung drawn and quartered)
and the first bonfire night was started later that year on the 5th of November under encouragement of the king. thats 409 years of bonfire nights. Talk about a old tradition.

Fireworks are great fun when used correctly but really dangerous when used wrong

And remember cats and dogs and the likes are often scared by loud bangs 

So don't forget about our furry friends 

And after bonfire night check your garden for the remains of fireworks and the likes.

I have had dogs in my life for about 26 years so most of it. It can be great exercise and fun to take my dogs out for a walk and they love going to the local Pets at home (Stoneferry Hull)  (And I mean love it they have to go at least once a week and drag us there when they know their going there)  to see the Rabbits for Charlie ( correction he whats to eat the Rabbits but the closet he gets is frozern rabbit meat which Gemma hates and will not eat) and Gemma loves the Deju( I have to pick here up to see them )  And most of the staff know them by name they enjoy going and I get to look at the Lizards. The only down side is taking them when it rains. Quite often when we have package here at Clark trading to ship by Royal mail Gemma goes with us to the post office.

There are no bad dogs!

I have had dogs in my life for 26 years in fact all my life. I have never meet a bad dog. Yes dogs have and do bite people. But why?
It all down to how the dog was brought up/Treated
(Dogs don't have any hands all they have is their teeth as a last resort)
There is no such thing as bad dog! It the owner!

This may sound wrong to some but lets face it is very rare that a well treat loved family pet goes on the rampage/bits some one.

The vast majority of case are ill treated dogs.
